Koraat-Knives #15
Our model #15 is the new edition of our tribute to the famous „14“ stamped blades from the Filarmonica company in Spain. The 14 blanks were dropforged in Solingen and were used by numerous straight razor manufacturers. But the filarmonicas are particulary sought-after because of their thin hollow grinds and the intense coloured scales.
We use a similar base design but have increased the size to 9/8" and have changed some details to make it our own.
Like the ancient 14 blades, our 15 blades are also dropforged in Solingen from finest „Silversteel“ DIN 1.2210, AISI L2, and are hardened to about 65 hrc. Recently we can also offer them in stainless steel (1.4034) hardened to 59-60hrc. The hardening, which involves cryo treatment, is done by the Schanz Company in Germany which is renowned for their expertise in hardening various stainless steels for knife applications.
The blade has a singing full hollow grind and measures 29mm (9/8“). The finish is a very fine and gentle polished satin finish.
The scales are handground and polished and are made of Acrylic, which we offer in different colours.
